The PETG filament 1.75mm, also known as PET or PET-G is a material 3D printers, and its main feature is that it is very hard and has an extremely high resistance, therefore the printed pieces with this material are very powerful.
Another very important feature is that its shrinkage is very low, which is an ideal material when you have to print large flat pieces.
PETG is a modified polyester (polyethylene terephthalate), widely used in the industry (most soda bottles are made of this material or derivatives thereof), so it is a material that does not degrade the water. Therefore the industrial use, the PETG is one of more recyclable plastics used.
PETG offers a good alternative to the PLA and ABS, as it offers a higher mechanical strength than these, less shrinkage when printing the piece bends before breaking does not release odors or gases and has an excellent smooth finish.
The only drawback, due to its high resistance, is that it is necessary to melt a temperature above the PLA, but similar to the ABS. The working temperature in the Hotend is 240-260 degrees and the bed temperature about 70 degrees.
The PETG filament does not absorb moisture, so once open PETG materials does not degrade over time and do not need to save it with desiccants.
It is a relatively translucent compared to other materials 3D printer (including the color gamut) material.
