The Wio-E5 Development Kit is a compact, easy-to-use development toolset designed to unlock the full potential of the Wio-E5 STM32WLE5JC LoRa module. It supports a wide range of access protocols and offers a rich variety of interfaces, allowing rapid testing and prototyping with RS485, Grove connectors, and abundant GPIOs.

This ultra-compact development board features extremely low power consumption and supports both (G)FSK and LoRa modulation. With built-in AT command firmware, it simplifies the process of building prototypes or applications. The kit is fully compatible with the LoRaWAN protocol and supports various frequency plans, making it an ideal solution for long-range sensor nodes and a wide array of wireless communication applications. Whether you're setting up Wireless Meter Reading, IoT Nodes, or a Sensor Network, the Wio-E5 is well-suited for low-power, wide-area IoT scenarios. The module can connect to various LoRaWAN server platforms such as TheThingsStack, Chirpstack, and others.

The Wio-E5 Development Kit features ultra-long transmission range, extremely low chip power consumption, and a user-friendly interface design. Developed to fully leverage the functionality of the Wio-E5 (LoRa-E5) module, it breaks out all 28 pins and provides rich connectivity options, allowing seamless integration with sensors and modules using different connectors and data protocols, and eliminating the need for wire soldering. The board can also be conveniently powered by connecting a battery holder with two AA batteries, enabling temporary use in the absence of an external power source. It is a user-friendly platform ideal for quick testing and rapid prototyping.

Since Wio-E5 is a LoRa chip with an MCU, there are three main ways to utilize the Wio-E5 Development Kit:

Connect board to PC via USB and control by AT commands: There is a built-in USB to UART function on board, you could just simply connect the board to your PC with a USB type C cable, and use serial communication software to send AT commands and read data from the board.
Connect board to another mainboard via UART and control by AT commands: For example, connect board to XIAO SAMD21 (Seeeduino XIAO) via UART, send AT commands and read data from XIAO board through Arduino IDE serial monitor.
User Application Development by using SDK: Develop your own LoRa development board with MCU function by using STM32Cube Programmer, which is the SDK officially provided by STMicroelectronics.
