Sound Sensor can detect the sound intensity of the environment. The main component of the module is a simple microphone, which is based on the LM386 amplifier and an electret microphone.
Piezo elements come in handy when you need to detect vibration or a knock. You can use these for tap or knock sensors pretty easily by reading the voltage on the output. They can also be used for a very small audio transducer such as a buzzer.
An electret microphone is a type of electrostatic capacitor-based microphone, which eliminates the need for a polarizing power supply by using a permanently charged material.
