Slamtec RPLiDAR S2L 360° ToF Laser Scanner – 18m

The RPLIDAR S2L is a next-generation low-cost 360 degree 2D laser scanner (LIDAR) solution developed by SLAMTEC. It can take up to 32000 samples of laser ranging per second with high rotation speed. Equipped with contactless power and signal transmission technology, it breaks the life limitation of traditional LIDAR systems to work stably for a long time.

The RPLIDAR S2L is a 2D laser scanner, which can perform a 2D 360-degree scan within a 18-meter range and produce a 2D point cloud map of the space where it is located. The generated 2D point cloud data can be used in mapping, robot localization, robot navigation, and object/environment modeling.

Compared with other RPLIDAR series, RPLIDAR S2L has a more stable performance when detecting objects in long distances, objects in white or black alternatively, and objects under direct sunlight, which is ideal for map building in the outdoor or indoor environment within a 18-meter ranging radius. Therefore, it can be widely applied in many consumer-oriented business scenarios.

The typical scanning frequency of RPLIDAR S2L is 10Hz (600rpm). With the 10Hz scanning frequency, the sample rate is 32kHz, and the angular resolution is 0.1125°.Due to the improvements in SLAMTEC hardware operating performance and related algorithms, RPLIDAR S2L works well in all indoor environments and outdoor environments with direct sunlight. Meanwhile, before leaving the factory, every RPLIDAR S2L has passed strict testing to ensure the laser output power meets the eyesafety standard of IEC-60825 Class 1.

DTOF ranging method

Thanks to the DTOF (Direct Time-of-Flight) technology developed by SLAMTEC, RPLIDAR S2L guarantees consistent ranging resolution. Even in longer distance, the resolution always keeps the same. Also, DTOF allows RPLIDAR S2L to detect almost ANY thing with different material types, no matter a darker object, a high reflective mirror, or even transparent glass.

Resistance to strong sunlight, workable in both Indoor and outdoor

RPLIDAR S2L has a stable ranging and high-resolution mapping performance in indoor and outdoor environment, even in 80Klux strong sunlight interference.

Excellent ranging accuracy

For objects with different reflectivity, such as lenses and mirrors with high reverse surfaces, consistent and accurate distance measurements can be obtained.

The height of the scanning optical area of RPLIDAR S2L is only 18mm, which make it easy to be embedded.

IP65 proof level, combined with a cover to protect its interior mechanism from external interference, which provides a stable working environment and meets the industrial application.

32000 times per second sample rate

RPLIDAR S2L improves the internal optical design and measurements system to achieve the sample rate up to 32000 times, that make more environmental details to be retrieved during the mapping and navigation process.

High compatibility

RPLIDAR S2L shares the same interface port with A series RPLIDARs. Existing products can upgrade to RPLIDAR S2L seamlessly without the need of changing hardware or software design.

Class 1 Laser Safety Standard

RPLIDAR S2L adopts the low power infrared laser light as its light source, and drives it by modulated pulse. It reaches Class 1 Laser Safety Standard which can ensure its safety to human eyes.
