This driver board is specifically designed for serial bus servos, integrating an ESP32 and serial bus servo control circuits. It features onboard RS485 and TTL serial bus servo interfaces, allowing control of up to 253 ST/RSBL series serial bus servos simultaneously.

Based on the ESP32-WROOM-32 module, it supports both wired and wireless communication. Waveshare has open-sourced the serial bus servo control demos and the JSON communication interface. Users can connect via USB to a host computer, send JSON-formatted commands to control the servos, and receive JSON-formatted feedback (such as servo torque, speed, position, etc.). The board also supports secondary development, enabling its use as a slave controller in robotics projects.

It is an ideal choice for building quadruped robots, hexapod walkers, robotic arms, and other robotic projects requiring multiple servos. Multiple online control demos for different host controllers are available.

Wired control mode

Allows sending JSON commands to the ESP32 to control the serial bus servos or directly sending control commands to the servos via the onboard USB Type-C port.

Compatibility with Raspberry Pi 5 & Pi 4

Supports connecting to a Raspberry Pi 4B & Pi 5, powering the Pi via an integrated 5V buck regulator circuit, and communicating through the GPIO UART interface for neat cable management.

Wireless control mode

The Bus Servo Driver HAT automatically establishes a hotspot upon powering on, enabling users to connect and control the driver board through mobile phones, tablets, and PCs using the cross-platform web application provided by Waveshare.
